The Rolling Stones: Some Girls

Peter Silverton, Sounds, 10 June 1978

WHICHEVER WAY you look at it, this is an important album of the first order. Important primarily because it's the first album (excluding Love You Live and that doesn't really count for anything anyway) since the debacle at Earls Court and the rise and rise of Messrs. Rotten and Strummer to emerge from the triumvirate of diamond-edged rock and roll bands – the Stones, the Who and Zeppelin – that once held the respect of almost every lover of rock and roll tinged with violence. It's their first – and probably one and only – chance to prove that there's life in the old war horses yet.
