The Souther-Hillman-Furay Band: The Souther-Hillman-Furay Band

Tom Nolan, Phonograph Record, July 1974

"HERE I GO AGAIN," Richie Furay sings the opening words of this album, "it's all right." Certainly, especially when the singer is good ol' Richie with a voice the natural range of which is near-falsetto, an infectious optimistic human sound that can induce a grin at the dourest moment. Especially when the song is about falling in love and the band is tooling along like Gene Parsons' pickup doing forty-five on a hot June night along Fountain Avenue at the wide part. Well! Turn up the radio. Pop the clutch. Let's ride.
