The Stereophonics Interview
Dan Gennoe, Making Music, 1998
THE MINDS OF the Stereophonics are obviously somewhere else. As they're ushered through the rain from the tent where they've been signing autographs since finishing their set on V98's main stage two hours ago, an in-depth, probing interview looks like the last thing they want. Drummer Stuart Cable proffers a hand and introduces himself with a broad smile and deep, resonant Welsh 'hello'. Six foot bassist Richard Jones, nods a friendly acknowledgement and singer/guitarist Kelly Jones, who earlier was the focus of the enormous stageside screens as he screamed at the top of his lungs in a successful attempt to lift the spirits of the rain soaked crowd, smiles nervously, shakes hands and looks concerned.
