The Strokes: Braehall Arena, Glasgow
Nick Hasted, Independent, The, 3 December 2003
ALL THE DISAPPOINTED assaults on the Strokes have been based on the thought that they should be about more than music. The tired shrug of their first album's title, Is This It, showed they had no such illusions about themselves. While their perceived rivals the White Stripes deal in primal blues mystery, the Strokes are straightforward purveyors of strong, snaky tunes played by dazzling, fashionable young men.
