AT A TIME in the late '60s when the hippies were preaching peace and love – as they would have it, in short, a whole new way of life – these very flower children set-up a value system which in its own way was every bit as rigid and inflexible as the straight establishment they rejected so vociferously, and which spurned the one of the few rock'n'roll bands of the era which was truly liberating: The Velvet Underground.
