Tom Jones and the Stereophonics
Neil Mason, Melody Maker, 1 March 1999
LOOKING OUT across the affluent Silverlake area of Los Angeles stretching out below us, this is not your usual house. Perched high on a hilltop, this '70s shrine with its bold-patterned rugs, huge brown leather settees, a bar which most probably invented kitsch, not to mention a Perspex chess table complete with matching chairs, is the home of an elderly Californian doctor. That he actually lives among all this out of choice is plain bizarre.
