COME ON NOW, put away the hammer and nails and the coffin; save them for a much lesser band than Traffic. Agreed, over the last two years they don't seem to have hung together too well, and maybe were a little musically lethargic. Is that any justification for regarding them as a crude band? Even your heavy monsters have rough times.
