Various Artists: Good Rockin' Tonight - The Legacy of Sun Records (Sire)
Martin Colyer, Rock's Backpages, February 2002
ANOTHER WEEK, another tribute album, but this one is pretty successful. Beautifully packaged, with only one obvious clunker (Johnny Halliday's 'Blue Suede Shoes'? He don't swing and he can't sing) the sound of Sam Phillips' studio shines through. Most of the old stagers opt to go for an authentic slap-echo acoustic vibe, and some even have Scotty Moore and DJ Fontana playing along.
