OF ALL THE GREAT BANDS who sang in English as a second language in the 1960s, the Outsiders were the coolest. It's a subjective judgment, bound to infuriate partisans of the Lords, Tages, Q65, Los Mockers, Les Baroques, and others, but no one could deny that these Amsterdam monsters covered a staggering amount of ground between 1965-1969. Their three albums and dozen singles also charted an explosive creative growth, on par with that of the Pretty Things–the most readily comparable British group of the era.
