Youssou N'Dour: Voix d'Afrique
Mark Sinker, NME, 31 May 1986
2005 note: My very first full-length music piece for NME? I so much wish Youssou had not let himself be kidnapped by P.Gabriel. Marcello Carlin has argued – probably correctly, though it hurts to admit it – that YN was already more than halfway lost to this tendency as early as this record; that his Etoile de Dakar tapes are/were far more exciting, mysterious, powerful, whatever.
Total word count of piece: 1461
