After thirty seven years virtually nonstop on that well-worn road, years of lucrative highs and alcoholic lows, he is not about to throw in his particular towel. Sprawled in his pyjamas across yet another hotel bed, he growls gently, a little wearily, about the endless circuit of one-night stands across America. "It's had its good moments and its bad moments", he smiles, "but if I had to do it all over again I don't think I would choose anything different."
