David Byrne: Leicester De Montfort Hall, 7th July
Andy Farquarson, Rock's Backpages, July 2002 AN INCONGRUOUSLY large stage dominates the tiny park which is the setting for a one-day festival at Leicester's De Montfort Hall. As two risers are rolled out, one bearing a full drum kit, the other laden with an array of toms, congas, cowbells and other percussion instruments, a rhythmical evening looks on the cards. Less obvious are the music stands and chairs to one side. A string section? Surely not? Mais oui, as it turns out.
