ON THE fourth of June, 1997 the world of popular music lost one of its finest song writing talents when Ronnie Lane, affectionately known to friends and fans alike as Plonk, finally lost his prolonged battle with multiple sclerosis at his adopted home of Trinidad, Colorado. Since his birth in Plaistow, East London on April 1st, 1946, Ronnie Lane forged a quite astonishing musical career which not only established him as one of rock 'n' roll's greatest, most innovative talents, but also as one of the genre's best-loved characters.
