IT'S ALWAYS BEEN something of a thankless task, being a member of Del Amitri. Put bluntly, in spite of launching their prestigious career from the humblest of indie roots, they've always operated from within the confines of a career-hobbling credibility chasm. The trend-setting gentlemen of the weekly music press, who are, like it or not, the accepted arbiters of what's considered cool and trendy on the UK rock scene, have always deemed them to be far too conservative and traditionalist to warrant serious critical consideration. Yet, despite this disadvantageous state of affairs, the tenacious Del boys have ultimately prevailed in triumph.
