PAUL RODGERS is perhaps England's (and America's) most well known unknown. As lead vocalist with Free he developed a small-but-strong following gushing with devotion. But compared to the shrieking hordes who flocked to the stages of Roger Daltrey and Mick Jagger, Rodgers' flocks paled insignificantly in number and noise. More recently he has been lauded by such superlungs as Rod Stewart and Steve Marriott and offered positions with the likes of Deep Purple and Beck, Bogert & Appice, but nevertheless, he remained a virtual background fixture. With the assemblage of his new band, Bad Company, Rodgers should part the curtains of invisibility and receive the recognition he has so hardily earned.
