Jimmy McDonough: Shakey - Neil Young's Biography

Craig W. Thomas, Rock's Backpages, Fall 2005

INTO MY HOLIDAY knapsack this year I tucked a biography of Lowell George that a friend had lent me, and I picked it up on day one. I'll spare you the details of the author so it doesn't embarrass him and so I don't have to think about his name, because it absolutely stunk out half of France. It was the worst musical biography I had ever come across, at which point experienced readers will appreciate the thought that if so, it's really going some. This brings me indirectly to Shakey and the fact that the fellow responsible for Rock And Roll Doctor - cute title - ought to read this book and either copy the formula or go write about slug torturing or something
