Tom T. Hall: In Search of a Song
Richard Cromelin, Rolling Stone, 6 January 1972
FACT IS, In Search of a Song doesn't quite match the quality of any of Hall's three previous Mercury albums. Meaning only that a couple of the selections are a bit broad, overdramatic and lacking the incisiveness and punch that mark his best work. Fact remains, though, that there is enough first-rate Tom T. Hall material herein to rank it among the most valuable listening experiences around.
