Elaine Cusack
Elaine was sixteen when her first book of poetry, Bed and Breakfast with Lydia Lunch was published. Her poems have won numerous awards and appeared in various collections as well as on national TV and radio. In the 1990s she was both a staff and freelance music writer for Rock CD, The Guitar Magazine, Mojo, Select, Volume and The Times. During this time she fell, like Alice, into the weird wonderland of antiquarian bookselling. In 1998 Elaine set up her own online book business Cusack Books, specialising in out of print TV, film and rock music-related titles. Since 2000 she has immersed herself in a range of community radio and oral history projects in London and Cambridge. These include The Bunker Project, an exploration of Cambridges hidden war spaces – www.thebunkerproject.info Poor Elaine never achieved her childhood dream of performing a hit single on Top of the Pops. Still, shes proud to boast her cover version of a punk rock classic was played on BBC 6 Musics breakfast show to the delight of at least a dozen listeners. Her current work in progress is a biographical tribute to one of her all-time rock idols.
