Isaac Hayes: Hot Buttered Soul (Stax)
Tremendously successful in the States, this is the first solo album from Isaac Hayes, better known as the hit songwriter with Dave Porter for Sam and Dave and Carla Thomas among others. Not as funky as one would have thought but it contains tremendous versions of Jim Webb's 'By The Time I Get To Phoenix', that lasts a mammoth 18 minutes, and Bacharach-David's 'Walk On By'. Hayes is an exciting talent in his own right.
