Aztec Camera: Knife (WEA)

Cynthia Rose, New Musical Express, 29 September 1984

RARELY IS the 'singer-songwriter' allowed any natural patience to heed the rushing waters of emotion and experience; and in the current singer-songwriter boom, it seems axiomatic that some studio mojo be quickly corralled to embellish every half-baked twitch of such artistes' minds with exotic aural perfumes and the most expensive glitter. Result: an overly familiar frame within which resonate to the point of real tedium those overarching (and often class-coded) vocals which bespeak Young White Male Angst.
