Billy Idol: Charmed Life

Mat Snow, Q, May 1990

HIS STANDING AS the Greatest Living Englishman only jeopardised by that nasty prang on the old Harley, Sir William Idol has in fact reinforced his eminence. But leading as he does such a life of excitement as Britain's unofficial cultural ambassador to our cousins in Los Angeles, one sometimes forgets how he got there in the first place. His first album since 1986's Whiplash Smile, the aptly titled Charmed Life goes some way towards rectifying this unfortunate state of affairs.
