Byron Coley: An Interview

Jason Gross, Perfect Sound Forever, June 2010

SITTING ON A back porch in bucolic Western Massachusetts on a gorgeous summer's day, my friend’s adorable little daughter coyly asked, "Wanna see a picture of me?" After I agree, she runs into the house in a flash and runs back out and jumps up on my lap. She's not carrying a photo but a magazine instead – the French edition of Vogue. She furiously flips through it until she comes to a photo spread and gets excited, proudly pointing at the picture. "Dat's Thurston, dat's Kim, dat's Coco and dat's me!! " she exclaims. Not too shabby, but then again this ain't any little kid. She might not have appreciated it at the time but her dad, Byron Coley, was cohorts with a bunch of indie rock icons.
