Charlie Rich: Every Time You Touch Me (I Get High) (Epic PE 33455)

Dave Marsh, Rolling Stone, 31 July 1975

THE PARTNERSHIP of producer Billy Sherrill and singer Charlie Rich, one of the most profitable in recent years, has now run its course. Since the enormous success of Behind Closed Doors, Sherrill has come to dominate each album more completely, overpowering Rich's voice — no easy matter — with strings, choruses and a flaccid beat. At this point, Rich sounds completely debilitated, and the arrangements are becoming reminiscent of airlines muzak.
