WHEN I WAS in England recently, a lot of excitement seemed to be about David Bowie, a singer-songwriter, who, in the past, has managed to attract more than the usual amount of attention by making his public appearances in Lauren Bacall hairdos and long, rather nicely cut crepe dresses.
