Cream, The Electric Prunes, Steppenwolf: Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, Los Angeles CA

SANTA MONICA — The audience was a show in themselves. Long satin dresses, ringlet curls, rahja jackets and brightly colored blouses dominated the scene. For the first half of the concert, it was almost as if the audience only came to be on display. They talked, ate and walked around as Steppenwolf opened the show. They squirmed a little as Penny Nichols went through wishy song after wishy song. They paid little attention as the Electric Prunes gave a loud electronic performance. If they couldn't hear the Cream they wouldn't hear anyone.
