Richard Williams, Melody Maker, 7 October 1972

ROBERT PLANT was the first Dan Hicks fan I ever knew. A couple of years ago he broke up an interview session by playing a new record from a group which sounded vocally like Hank Williams guesting with Lambert, Hendricks and Ross, and instrumentally like a combination of Buck Owens' Buckaroos and the Quintet of the Hot Club de France with Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelly (circa 1939).
