HALFWAY THROUGH Devendra Banhart's gig, something unusual happens. The singer, who has been slurping something strong from a bottle on his amp, gets into conversation with someone in the audience, who appears to be a musician. "Maybe we should do one of your songs," suggests Banhart. Then he has different idea. "No, you should!"
