AS HOMAGES to male bonding go, it would be hard to beat 'Nuthin' but a 'G' Thang', the hit single from The Chronic, the latest album from the rapper and producer Dr. Dre. Anchored by a lumbering, yet solid bass line, the track features the rapping of Dr. Dre's protege, the deliciously deadpan Snoop Doggy Dogg. The pair deliver a loping, stoned (the album's title refers to marijuana) and unapologetic tribute to the boys-will-be-boys mentality.
