Fatima Mansions: Limelight Club, Belfast

Andrew Mueller, Melody Maker, 15 June 1991

ANGER, as at least one iconic sneer has already correctly asserted, is an energy. It stimulates, inspires, propels, compels. Our contemporary pop climate is, make no mistake, rich in many treasurable things but is almost utterly bereft of any real intensity. The furious are currently without franchise. The nearest Ride et al ever get is a kind of attractive diffident annoyance, the sort one feels when the Highgate platform indicator informs that the next Charing Cross tube is due sometime around 1997.
