"I WAS 12 years old when I first heard Frankie Lymon singing 'Why Do Fools Fall in Love' on my grandmother's radio," wrote Ronnie Spector in her 1990 autobiography Be My Baby. "I'd sit by that Philco every night waiting to hear him sing. When he finally came on, I pressed my head into the speaker until I got Frankie going right through my brain."
