George Benson: Labour of Love

TRYING TO please all of the people all of the time is no easy task and when you're a multi-faceted music man you run the risk of upsetting at least some of your audience some of the time. For at least the first eight years or so of his recording career, George Benson was known mainly in jazz circles, regarded as one of that genre's most promising guitarists. A switch to Warner Brothers in 1976 was intended to give the Pittsburgh-born musician a broader base but the emphasis was still in the jazz arena.
