Graham Parker & the Rumour, Pere Ubu: Roundhouse, London

MAYBE GRAHAM Parker should have held back on his forthcoming live album and waited to see what this tour might produce. For my money the second of his sell-out Roundhouse concerts last Monday (Parker himself complained that the previous night had suffered from a few technical problems) had a degree of swing and poise that's only infrequently present on The Parkerilla. Certainly the sound balance with its low, growling resonance had more blood and guts to it than the album mix. The only thing the sound boys missed was Bob Andrews' keyboards which tended to get drowned out.
