Gregory Isaacs: Lyceum, London

Max Bell, The Times, 31 May 1984

Isaacs is first and foremost a reggae singer, the best male interpreter of lovers' rock, but the warmth of his delivery suggests constant reserves of soul. In addition there is a militant, bluesy strain to his writing which he balances with a light and often mocking sense of sharp-edged pop.
