HAPPY MONDAYS is where the repetition-repetition-repetition of post-Velvets jangle-drone meets the repetition-repetition-repetition of '70s funk. Imagine a cross between the Blue Orchids and Hamilton Bohannon, the Fall and the Fatback Band, James and JB. The wah-wah on ‘Freaky Dancin'‘ cues memories of both the Stooges' ‘Ann’ and Isaac Hayes' ‘Shaft’ simultaneously.
