THE ELECTRIC revolution that helped to spawn rock and roll also helped to popularize a whole new set of instruments to take along on its rise to Fame and Fortune. The bass guitar is one of these instruments and, in its relatively short lifetime, it has worked its way up to stand at least on equal ground with its predecessor, the string bass.
