How Rockpile Tried (and Failed) to Save Rock and Roll
Mitchell Cohen, Music Aficionado, 2016
THERE WAS technically only one album released by the band Rockpile, a jaunty, good-natured collection called Seconds of Pleasure that came out in its original form with a bonus EP of songs associated with the Everly Brothers. The album produced one minor chart single – 'Teacher Teacher' just barely missed making Billboard's top 50 – and didn't set the world ablaze. Not long after that, its two frontmen, Nick Lowe and Dave Edmunds, had disagreements that seemed to be partly about business but also were rooted in musical philosophy, and that was the end of the grand Rockpile experiment.
