THE RECEPTION laid on for the purpose of meeting up with America's James Brown was timed for 6 p.m., to finish at 7.30 p.m. James himself turned up around 7.20 and the reason for his tardiness was shatteringly original. His hair drier, we were told, was the wrong voltage for the electricity circuits of his plush London hotel and it took time to have it properly adapted.
