Andrew Bailey, Rolling Stone, 2 December 1970

LONDON — "The name? Well, we hadn't got one and we were asking around and this university-educated agent suggested Jethro Tull. I'd never heard it before but it sounded rustic and rough, so why not? Anyway we fully expected to only use it for a couple of gigs and then get tired of it. As it happened we started getting popular at the time so we kept it."
