Aqualung was Jethro Tull's fourth album since the group first gained attention with 'Song For Jeffrey' in 1968. Further hit singles had followed in the UK, but consolidating that success on both sides of the Atlantic meant recording sessions were shoehorned between tours and, in this instance, involved breaking in a new bass player.
