Joni Mitchell: Isle of Wight Festival, Afton Down

Geoffrey Cannon, unpublished, 5 September 1970

Update, 2019. LIKE SO many who were there, my sense of life's possibilities was changed forever by the Isle of Wight five-day open-air festivals created by Ray, Ron and Bill Foulk of Fiery Creations and their teams in the summers of 1969 and 1970. Both years, sitting in the VIP enclosure in front of the one stage, I was surrounded by rock musicians, some waiting to perform or after their acts, label owners, band managers, celestial groupies, roadies, bouncers, and other journalists.
