"Marty Wilde was managed by Larry Parnes – 'They don't call me Parnes, shillings and pence for nothing' – who entered rock as Tommy Steele's co-manager with John Kennedy. Kennedy only wanted one star, Parnes wanted a constellation, 'the Parnes stable of stars': Marty Wilde, Billy Fury, Dickie Pride, Vince Eager (all of whom were placed in the NME's popularity poll in 1959 along with Tommy Steele) and others. For the most part, they were one-hit wonders without hits..."
