Leonard Cohen: Songs From A Room (CBS 9767 import)

Mark Williams, International Times, 11 April 1969

LEONARD COHEN is not the world's greatest singer, his voice has a raspy edge to it and one often gets the impression that he's singing flat relying on his guitar and clever orchestrations to 'lift' the tone of his songs. For me, however, he IS the world's greatest wordsmith — a poet, a prophet, a chronicler of emotional intercourse.
