Loretta Lynn

David Burke, R2/Rock'n'Reel, March 2016

THE WORD "legend" has been devalued by misappropriation in modern linguistic currency. These days it is increasingly (and stupidly) used as a synonym for "star" or "celebrity" rather than to denote someone with an expansive and influential body of work. Consequently the merely mediocre are elevated to legendary status in a culture high on hyperbole and low on imagination. There ought to be a law against such travesty.
