Loudon Wainwright III: Album II (Atlantic)

Colman Andrews, Phonograph Record, September 1971

LOUDON WAINWRIGHT II was (still is, for that matter) one of the best, most readable of the bleeding-heart-liberal slick-paper journalists; his son, Loudon Wainwright III, who may be seen, unshaven, shirt untucked, on the cover of Album II, and who may be heard, of course, on the disc that cover protects, is one of the best, most listenable of the soul-bearing rough-edged singer-songwriters. So much for family history.
