IT TOOK Magnum a decade's-worth of albums to reach the stage of automatic entry into the Top 40 singles chart, as they did three times with tracks from Wings Of Heaven in 1988. There are definite similarities to the slow-but-sure progress of Def Leppard — a few creases ironed out of the music, a little extra hair gel. and now a transatlantically successful producerto take them, shall we say, all the way.
