"YOU'LL BE pleased about this, Sylvia," the Editor grinned. "After The Beatles and The Stones, the one group member who came highest in our New Year's Honours list was Paul Jones of the Manfreds." "I knew it," I exclaimed triumphantly. "I knew he'd come out tops." The Ed said something about "Not quite tops." But I was skidding back to my office to phone Paul Jones and congratulate him. The line, however, was engaged (as usual) and while I waited for it to become disengaged, I thought about Paul, the Manfred with the mostest.
