Marc Bolan

Keith Altham, New Musical Express, 30 September 1972

PUTTING MARC Bolan into perspective is no easy matter because he refuses to fit into any recognisable category. On the surface it could seem that his audience is made up of raving teanyboppers, but a visit to any of his concerts will reveal that there is a good percentage of boys. And – unlike the contemporary screamage fodder of Messrs Osmond, Cassidy and Jackson – he writes his own material, plays his own guitar, records on his own label and manages himself.
