Matthews Southern Comfort and Fairport Convention: The Roundhouse

Karl Dallas, The Times, 25 April 1970

If A PROMENADE CONCERT, in the traditional Royal Albert Hall manifestation, is an event allowing for direct comparisons between related but differing musics, then Thursday nights Pop Prom at the Roundhouse truly lived up to the name. Matthews's Southern Comfort, Fotheringay and Fairport Convention all share a common ancestry, for both Sandy Denny of Fotheringay and Ian Matthews are ex-Fairport members.
