IT WAS A fair measure of Nina Simone's ability that, in, the bustling thoroughfare of Ronnie Scott's, she was able, to command close attention with such a stark performance. Accompanied only by the electric bassist Arthur Adams and the drummer Paul Robinson, she played and sang an eclectic selection of songs arranged with characteristic austerity.
