Oasis: Earl's Court, London

Simon Price, Melody Maker, 4 October 1997

TICK. TOCK. The giant clock behind Noel, who is 29 years old, and Liam, who is 24, runs steadily backwards. There's always been a big HG Wells element to Oasis' music, and a few more Morse Code bleeps can't disguise the fact that Be Here Now is the same record they released two years ago — four medium-paced singalongs, four boozy, rowdy uptempo numbers, a couple of big, Zippo-waving slowies, a token weird one, a token "amusing" one with "quirky" lyrics — only not as good. ("So what's the matter with you?/Sing me something new" — ha f***ing ha).
